Teresa Klepinger | Creative Writing Instructor

When Teresa’s family first moved to Sherwood in 1996, she heard the library wanted to start a Preschool Storytime. She got the job and started a 20-year career leading Preschool Storytime, Toddler Time and Baby Time. She loved every minute of it. Surrounded as she was with great children’s books, and with a teaching background, she always felt the itch to write for children.

Teresa made several attempts at picture books, which finally morphed into a resource book with Scholastic Teach­ing Resources called Cliffhanger Writing Prompts. She has used the story prompts in many writing workshops in Sherwood and the Portland area, and is always blown away by the imaginations of children. Teresa’s 2016 picture book writing and illustrating summer camp with her friend Megan Hills had to be one of the workshop highlights. She’s always teaching kids, from Storytime, to Sunday school, to writ­ing workshops, to piano lessons, to the Young Willamette Writers.
