Act 1: Jeffery Chan
A classical guitarist based in Portland, Oregon, Jeff's love of music started as a young child pianist, which set the foundation of his love for classical music and music theory. He started his musical journey exploring the simultaneous simplicity and depth that music contains, and continues this journey through the medium of classical guitar. He has performed with the Marylhurst Guitar Ensemble, showcasing the works of Handel, de Falla, Bach, and Brouwer. Jeffrey continues to study guitar privately and perform locally.
Act 2: Issac Engal
A young artist from Salem, Oregon, Issac began studying guitar with William Jenks in August 2015, and since then he has also participated in masterclasses with guitarists such as Sharon Isbin, Pablo Villegas, and Los Romeros. In 2017 he competed in the GFA Youth competition, and heachieved semifinalist in the NW Guitar Festival Youth competition in both 2017 and 2018. He has performed in concerts as a member of the Marylhurst Guitar Ensemble, and gave his solo debut concert to friends and family the night before the Great American Eclipse of 2017. Isaac will be attending Corban University in Salem as a freshman this year to study music performance and business administration.
Act 3: Keaton Woodburn
Keaton is a young classical guitarist from Sherwood, Oregon. Keaton has been studying the classical guitar since he was 16 years old. He also enjoys playing many different styles of music on the electric guitar, such as jazz, blues and rock. He has played in the Marylhurst University Classical Guitar Ensemble where he played multiple solo and ensemble performances, including performances in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Keaton has performed in master classes taught by renowned artist, such as Pablo Sainz Villegas, Lily Afshar, Antigoni Goni, Eliot Fisk, and even Los Romeros. Keaton was awarded 4th place in the Northwest Guitar Festival Youth Competition in 2017 and 2nd place in the 2018 NWGF Youth Competition. Keaton will begin attending Pepperdine University this fall to study classical guitar under Christopher Parkening.
Act 4: Travis Johnson
Travis is a classically trained guitarist from Portland, Oregon. After studying with private instructors in Oregon and Washington, he received degrees in music performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (2015) and The University of Texas at Austin (2017). Travis teaches that music is a language that a can be learned through careful listening and responding by exercising the technical demands of the instrument. He enjoys sharing music with a variety of audiences by performing at open-mics, schools, recitals, and through his live-stream practice sessions.
