Spend additional time behind the wheel, increase the amount of clay on the bat, and kick your skills up a notch. Advance your throwing prowess to create larger and more varied forms. Try new tools, alter thrown pieces, add texture, attach a handle, or make a lidded form. Explore surface decoration, underglaze, and glaze combinations. Demos of new techniques are tailored to student interest. In this Beyond the Basics class students are also involved with studio upkeep as well as clay preparation, reuse, and recycling.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: This class is for students already able to center, pull and trim.

NOTES:
Students are encouraged to enroll in multiple sessions for a deeper dive into decorating and glazing. Four 5‑week Beyond the Basics classes are offered this fall, so you could, for example, sign up for more than one to explore different techniques.
To make the most of class, returning students should seek out and incorporate new tools into their toolkit and bring them to class.
Notification to pick up glazed pieces will be emailed or texted 2-3 weeks after the last class.
Families and friends gather to discover the joy of working with clay. Create unique pieces inspired by themes and demonstrations. Fired pieces will be available for pick up about 10 days later. *An adult needs to register with child(ren) 12 and under. All participants must register.
Family Clay Night: Monsters | #6343

In this first Family Clay Night of the Fall season, create a monster from clay; make it funny, silly or frightening. Craft eyes, add texture, teeth, horns, and tails to customize your creature. Design and build the first night and add color using glaze the second. Family Clay Nights: where families and friends gather to discover the joy of working with clay. *Must enroll two people at a minimum, and children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an enrolled adult participant.

Emphasize eyes, texture wings and hone the talons of your witty bird. Design your piece the first night and add color with glaze the second night.
