We are excited to partner with local instructors Olivia Buchanan and Jake Famme to offer this new dance program at the Sherwood Center for the Arts!

September Swing - Ballroom Meets Broadway Dance Series
4 weeks | 8 - 12 years
Swing into the new school year with a fall dance series! This 4-week session will include mastering basic figures and learning East Coast and Single Time Swing. This style is great fun for beginners! Classes will be held once a week for each age group incorporating various ballroom and Latin/social dance styles. The structure will include history lessons, basic footwork and technique, styling and partnering skills. Students are encouraged to sign up with a partner, but it isn't required for participation in the class. We encourage students to sign up for each session, as each one will feature a different dance style including holiday specials. This is a great class for anyone, regardless of dance experience. Students will be expected to be on time to class with shoes and appropriate attire.

October Spooktacular Salsa - Ballroom Meets Broadway Dance Series
4 weeks | 8 - 12 years
Learn the basics of salsa to traditional Latin American music, but then get your groove on with a slight twist to this fun style with spooky music! Classes will be held once a week for each age group, incorporating various ballroom and Latin/social dance styles. The structure will include history lessons, basic footwork and technique, styling and partnering skills. Kids are encouraged to sign up with a partner, but it isn't required for participation in the class. We encourage students to sign up for each session, as each session will feature a different dance style including holiday specials. This is a great class for anyone, regardless of dance experience. Winter Waltz - Ballroom Meets Broadway Dance Series
4 weeks | 8 - 12 years
Enjoy this elegant, enchanting, and beautiful dance as you gracefully glide around the floor learning basic timing, various partner frames/holds and simple actions of rise and fall that give the waltz its true characteristics. Classes will be held once a week for each age group, incorporating various ballroom and Latin/social dance styles. The structure will include history lessons, basic footwork and technique, styling and partnering skills. Kids are encouraged to sign up with a partner, but it isn't required for participation in the class. We encourage students to sign up for each session, as each session will feature a different dance style including holiday specials. This is a great class for anyone, regardless of dance experience.
