STEAMventures: Plants, Animals, and Bugs Oh My! | 7 -12 years * 4 DAY CAMP
The world is full of many living things. Some move around like animals and bugs, while others spend their entire lives in
one place. A few are taller than a house and some are so tiny that they cannot be seen with the naked eye. Plants, animals, and bugs - find out what these living things have in common during this exciting camp. “We can never have enough of nature.” - Henry David Thoreau

EFK: High Voltage Hijinks | 7 -12 years
Get powered-up for an energetic week of electrical engineering! In this camp, you will learn how to generate power using electromagnetics, electrical circuits, wind turbines, and solar panels. You will take on exciting, hands-on engineering challenges and put your creations to the test using the EFK Engineering Design Process. This is an illuminating experience you won’t want to miss!
Instructor: Engineering for Kids

Resident: $240 / Non-Resident $288
Robo Olympics (LEGO EV3) | 7 - 12 years
Students build and program robots to face off in a series of competitions including basketball, tug-of-war, and wrestling. Students will build robots to accomplish a specific task while using their imagination to make their robot better than the basic robot.
Instructor: Engineering for Kids

STEAMventures: Blast Off | 8 - 12 years
A rocket a day keeps the boredom away! Build and take home your own rocket every day. Learn about the fundamentals of flying and the exciting world of model rocketry. Become part of a launch team that will work together to help make daily launches successful, assemble a launch pad and dress a rocket for flight. Work together with new friends in a rewarding camp for all.

The Art of Science | 7 - 12 years
Come explore the connection between art and science with polymers, paints, fish, and flowers. Design a creature with polymer clay. Experiment with chromatography. Separate inks to make beautiful displays of color and create magical color-changing flowers. Play with chemicals to make crazy exploding paint colors. Learn about fish anatomy and the ancient art of gyotaku. Mess around with density and surface tension to make crazy marbled prints. It’s going to be rad!

Resident: $180 / Non-Resident $216
Chemical Compounds | 7 - 12 years
Chemistry - it’s like magic, but real! Let’s spend the week looking for evidence of chemical change. We’ll make gases in the lab and see if they burn. We’ll experiment with acids and bases, create models of chemical compounds, burn some stuff, and make some slime. We’ll see if we can engineer some bioplastics too! And why not mix up some elephant toothpaste while we’re at it?

Mon. - Fri. 7/14 - 7/18 1:00 - 4:00pm
Resident: $180 / Non-Resident $216
STEAMventures: Mini World in a Bottle | 6 -12 years
Our eco-discovery camp will take your children’s natural curiosity and enthusiasm for nature to help them understand important ecological concepts including earth cycles. Create a magical garden for your room by combining a mini ecosystem with plants. Plant your own seeds and watch them grow. Make a grass head just for fun and enjoy the wow factor of your egg carton geodes. Experience a worm container and pet live worms. Pick plants, mix soil, and put together a mini world known as a terrarium.

Rescue Robots (LEGO Spike) | 7 -12 years
Welcome to the Rescue Robots Operations Center, a place where robots have fun, compete, and go on exciting adventures. In this program, students will use the EFK Engineering Design Process to take on a variety of rescue missions using the LEGO Spike Prime robotics kit. Students will learn to build robots and use block coding to design a route through earthquake rubble, rescue a snowmobile from an avalanche, search a trail for lost hikers, and much more!

Earth’s Energy | 7 - 12 years
Take a journey through Earth and learn about the energy that drives geologic processes and how rocks form. We’ll model the processes that form different kinds of rocks and learn how rocks are classified by texture, grains, mineral composition, and color. Let’s work on everybody’s favorite project by making a working volcano we can erupt at the end of the week!
Instructor: Dave Beatley
Mon. - Fri. 8/18 - 8/22 9:30am - 12:30pm

Food Science | 7 - 12 years
Let’s play with our food! Not really, but let’s at least do science with it. Taste the rainbow with Skittles, make some rock candy, and ice cream! Of course we will learn about our food in the process. Why does bread rise? Why do marshmallows change color when you roast them? What causes apples to oxidize faster or slower? And we’ll EAT some of our science along the way. **Allergy warning: This camp will experiment with foods including, but not limited to wheat/gluten, milk/dairy products, peanut butter, eggs, and more.
