My Copper Heart

My Copper Heart

Christine Terhaar is an artist and self taught metalsmith. She has always been drawn to all art forms, having started with basic bead weaving, led to making simple components, in order to set her work apart.

Upon getting her first torch, using found metal, she learned that playing with fire can be fun!  Books, dvds, magazines and now of course YouTube. Learning what did not work taught her more than her small successes. She loves where her metalwork is taking her!

She loves the juxtaposition of nature and manmade components, and often pair things seemingly opposite for a truly unique, edgy look.

Taking a leap, she submitted ideas to Step by Step Wire Magazine, and was thrilled to be published, three times, in 2011 and 2012.  Her first published design, became her business name and logo, My Copper Heart.  This really has been a labor of love and one she enjoys every single day.

She lives in rural Oregon, and takes inspiration from the mountains and forests, the ocean, moon and sky, the very flowers and leaves, there are patterns and designs everywhere.. even the asphalt highway and old barn wood. What inspires you?
