Come celebrate the art of Sherwood at the first gallery exhibit in the 2016 Sherwood Center for the Arts Gallery Season. Art-Full New Year will showcase diverse artwork from 19 local artists, including photography, painting and hanging sculpture. The gallery opening reception will take place in the lobby from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public. Meet the artists, curators and other art lovers, enjoy complimentary refreshments and live acoustic music by Larry Munson. This is sure to be a fantastic evening with a great chance to enjoy some wonderful artwork!
For Art-Full New Year, the curatorial team from Makers 5 Artists Collaborative encouraged local artists to share their work with the Sherwood community. This exhibit will showcase art through various mediums, created by local artists: Tammy Andrade, Craig Armstrong, D. K. Boljat, Gary Buhler, Scott Donnelly, Dave Gilmore, Susan Gilmore, Jennifer Harlow, Jaelynn Harris, Teffany Ingram, Patti Isaacs, Wendy Malcomson, Roderick Neswick, Amy Brodie Osborne, Vicki Poppen, Lori Randel, Laurie Svec, Jesse Swickard and Karen Terry.
Makers 5 is a group of artists in Oregon with a mission to locate and provide venues that enable artists to share their works with the public. The group is open to collaborate with other Artists groups in the Oregon and Washington area. A professional musician for over 40 years, Larry has performed in a broad range of venues. As a studio musician he has played on commercial jingles, movie soundtracks and, for two seasons, performed with the orchestra and recorded soundtracks for the “Here’s Lucy” television show at Paramount studios. He has performed extensively throughout the U.S. as both a classical and a jazz musician. Among the many jazz artists with whom he has performed are Louis Bellson, Charlie Byrd, Joe Morello, Buddy Rich and Frank Rosolino. Larry also holds a Masters Degree in Classical Guitar performance, has played solo concerts throughout the U.S. and has taught jazz and classical guitar at four universities including University of Arizona and U.S.C. He is heard often as a soloist at restaurants, wineries, parties and weddings in the Northwest or playing jazz and swing with Portland groups Café Jazz and The Kung Pow Chickens.
